Your stay.
-
Sustainability.
Our accommodation is off-grid, which means it’s powered by solar panels and a battery system. This minimises our environmental footprint while still offering you a relaxing and comfortable getaway. We capture rainwater for everyday use and recycle grey-water, which we use to water our gardens. Our composting toilet helps to reduce waste and conserve water, aligning with our commitment to sustainability. Join us in our mission for a more eco-conscious future as you relax and recharge with us.
-
Craftsmanship.
Small doesn’t mean compromising on style. We’ve crafted our little space with love and attention to detail, blending laid-back charm with modern comfort. Each piece of furniture we’ve selected to infuse warmth and character into your stay. From the natural linen bedding to the inviting leather chairs, we've curated a sanctuary where you can fully unwind and immerse yourself in the beauty of the Australian landscape. Nestled away from the main house, it offers you a secluded oasis, perfect for a weekend escape.

Welcome to Bindoon.
Situated on the traditional lands of the Yued People of the Noongar nation, Bindoon is part of the Chittering Valley. We’re just 84 kilometres from Perth, but it feels like a whole different world. Surrounded by farmland, and pockets of native bushland, Bindoon is the kind of place where you can't help but take a deep breath and let all your worries melt away.
In the village, you'll find the famous Bindoon Bakehaus where you can grab a delicious pie and coffee. You can also explore lovely homewares at the Little Country Store, find fresh local produce at the Locavore, pick up something for the BBQ at the Northern Valleys Quality Meats, and all your essentials at the IGA. Plus, keep an eye out for roadside stalls selling seasonal farm goodies throughout the year.
Discover the Chittering Valley.
The Chittering Valley is a true hidden gem, with its beautiful rolling hills and sweeping views every way you look. It's a hit with people who love sipping wine, going for nature walks, and spotting wildlife, especially during spring when the valley bursts to life with colourful wildflowers.
Throughout the year, there's always something happening, like the Taste of Chittering festival, the Chittering Spring Festival, and the Bindoon Agricultural Show and Rodeo for some good old-fashioned fun. And if you're into gazing at the stars, the valley's got you covered with regular stargazing events under its clear night skies. Come explore and enjoy the best of our small but bustling community.

Disconnect from the noise, and reconnect with what truly matters.
Our story.
Hey there, we’re Emma and Rod! Originally from the UK and Sydney, we made the move from city life to the countryside of Western Australia a few years ago. It was a big change, but we both craved something new - a simpler, more connected life, and the chance to be closer to family. Now, we’re lucky to call home a 50-acre farm in Bindoon, just an hour north of Perth. From the moment our feet touched the soil, we knew it was where we were meant to be.
Transitioning from the hustle and bustle of city living to the rhythm of farm life has had its challenges but has been a huge adventure so far, teaching us to slow down, appreciate the simple things and embrace the spontaneity of each day.
We created Wagtails Watch because we absolutely fell in love with this region and want to share it with you. It has so much to offer and is incredibly beautiful, with each season offering something special. Yep, even in the heat of summer!
We fully believe that any time spent in the great outdoors, away from endless distractions, is time well spent. Slowing down is good for the soul and we hope you’ll join us for a break soon. We can’t wait to host you!
